Hurt Arms and Sparkly Scribes

I was busy starting dinner last Thursday morning and simultaneously trying to help the kids with their morning school work. I quickly realized that helping Parker with his math meant tediously writing down each number as he spoke. (Remember the dastardly scooter incident.) Each time I turned away he would giggle and say "1,804" or "$27. 38." He thought this was great fun. I was watching the clock tick towards my yoga class and looking at the half chopped onions and... Sharp breath in and patience thinning, (I do not multi-task well, nor do I handle being a scribe well in general and this was throwing me into a tizzy due to some quite real character flaws that were rising dangerously to the surface.) I desperately searched my little blonde brain for some other, yea, any other solution. Then I saw Caroline.

Little pink sparkly rainbows of light bulbs popped into the sky above my head. Caroline. Of course. I quickly commissioned her to be Parker's math scribe and she eagerly accepted her position. (She loves to write.) They disappeared into Caroline's room and the math quickly finished. They proceeded on to Caroline's math and Parker took charge (no shocker, huh?) and explained the intricacies of "15 after" and "45 after" as it pertains to proper clock reading. I kept hearing giggles and "Wow, Caroline! You have really good handwriting!"

I managed to finish my chopping and dredging and searing and we even made it to yoga. Only 7 minutes late!
